Led by Sculptor Andrew Hood who has run several Home Ed classes – this is a unique opportunity for 10+ children to experience and learn this intricate skill.
Students will produce a relief carving (a “3D picture”) in limestone, of a simple design which they can take home.
Students will :
receive a safety brief concerning their workstation, their tools and their limestone slab
learn how to use their tools (chisel and sculptors’ hammer (dummy))
learn how to apply their tools to the material
learn how to transfer their chosen design to the material prior to carving
learn the importance of design placement upon the stone and the options available
learn a range of carving techniques.
All materials and tools are provided for:
Tools – chisel and small sculptors’ hammer
Safety equipment – eye protection
Materials –x 1 limestone block per student approx. 5 x 25 x 30cms tbc.
