Organised by Educationista Foundation

Running alongside the Geography Field Studies trip Karen is hoping to organise a PGL activity weekend for younger children. This is for children aged 7 – 13 years. They would have to be accompanied by an adult/guardian.

Up to one carer free of charge (at PGL’s discretion and subject to meeting PGL’s criteria) and will need documentary evidence and will also need to fill in the necessary paperwork for PGL. If more than one carer space is applied for, this will be shared.

There is one free adult space per 8 children, this will be pro-rated once numbers are finalised.

They are a linked booking and the two groups will join together at mealtimes and for some of the activities where possible. If the Geography trip does not get sufficient interest neither trip will run and all deposits will be refunded.

What’s Included:

– All activity instruction, supervision and use of specialist equipment

– Curriculum-linked course combining engaging adventure activities on land and water to develop different skills

– Full board accommodation

– A PGL ‘Groupie’ who will look after you and your group for your entire stay

– A full evening entertainment programme tailored for your group

– Free places for Party Leaders and accompanying adults (see ratio listed above)

– Extensive travel insurance cover

For more details please see:

www.pgl.co.uk/en-gb/school-trips/primary-schools/courses/multi-activity

Price per person is £136.80 (plus £18 for the ferry crossing which includes transfer to the PGL centre). Cars can also be taken on the ferry at a cost of £109 (If you are taking a car, you don’t need to pay the £18 ferry crossing).

An initial deposit of £30 per person will be required by 23rd September 2016. The remaining balance is required by 18th November 2016 (£106.80 + £18 per person or £109 per car). Deposits are non-refundable unless someone is able to fill your space.

If you wish your older children to go on the GCSE Geography trip, please book onto that separately, here.  The two trips are linked.  Meals (and possibly some of the activities) will be taken together.

Payment details
Please pay via family & friends PayPal to: events [at] educationista [dot] com
(Please put your name and what you are paying for)

This is an Educationista Foundation event, organised by Karen.  By booking on, you agree to adhere by the policies of the Foundation. A risk-assessment will be made available to everyone who attends on.

(For adults/parents – put “adult” or “parent” in the age box)

A Note About Rooms/Preferences:
We have been allocated the lodges/cabins.  All of the cabins have ensuite facilities.

Please could you indicate in the “additional information” box (which appears near the bottom of the booking form, above the “Pay with” option) one or more of the following preferences :

  • whether your children would be able to share with other children (and nominate the other children).  There would be no adults in this room.
  • whether the adults would be able to share with other adults (and nominate the other adults)
  • whether you want to room together as a family.  You may also share with another family.  As many/most of the cabins are 8 berth, it would be really helpful if you could share (please nominate a family that you would be willing to share with)

Disability/Dietary Requirements/Specific/Special Needs
If you have access requirements, dietary needs, specific requirements or any other special need, please put these in the “special requirements” box for the relevant person.  (This box will appear once you begin the booking process)

This Website

This website is purely a booking website. Any home-educator is welcome to use it for free, as long as the event is not-for-profit for them personally.

Adult spaces/tickets:
Please put “adult” in the age box. (Adult ages are not required)

Children’s ages are asked for to enable the organiser to pass on the age-range to the venue/workshop leader. Also, in the case of there being free teacher/adult spaces, these are normally calculated on the child/ren’s age.

Educationista Foundation

We were successful in registering "Educationista Foundation" as a CIO with the Charity Commission.

We'd like to invite any home-educator who is interested in joining in activities or getting involved in the charity itself, to join the facebook group for it, which is here:
facebook.com/groups/EducationistaFoundation.

However, the charity is separate from this website.
(It just uses this website for bookings for ease and because it time-stamps the bookings, which may be necessary for over-subscribed events)

Payments for Events

Payment for events must be made directly to the organiser.
Their PayPal/payment details will be detailed on the event.
If the organiser requests a bank payment (this will be clear on the event itself), then you may request them by email if they are not already known to you.

You are NOT be able to pay via the website PayPal as some of you may have done previously – this is because this attracts PayPal fees which cannot be passed on (following legislation that comes into effect from January 2018).

Your space(s) are not confirmed until payment has been received.

Cancellations/Non-attendance & Refunds

Most venues and attractions need to booked and paid in advance.
Therefore, unfortunately refunds are not normally possible unless your space(s) can be filled.
If you are unable to attend for whatever reason, please let the organiser know as soon as possible. They may they have a reserve/waiting list.

Welcome to Educationista.com

Thank you for visiting! Please put your feet up and make yourself at home.

This website shares educational places to go, things to do and reviews of educational trips.

Search through the directory's growing list of places to go and resources. - all categorised by subject area and age-range.

Browse through the list of upcoming events.

(Please remember - You must be registered (it's free) on the site and logged in, in order to actually book.)

Inclusion of an event on this website is NOT an endorsement of it. This is a booking website (and particularly in the case of home-education events, this website does NOT seek to replace local or national support groups)

The individual organiser is responsible for their own event.
The organiser's name appears on their events so you can identify whose event it is.

If payment is taken through the website, this will unavoidably incur PayPal fees. Therefore please pay the organiser direct if at all possible.

Are you a Museum, Venue, Place or Education Provider

If you have events, trips, resources etc to share... we'd love to hear from you!
