Kentwell is the originator of historical live educational events in the UK and have been doing so for over 30 years.
Tudor re-enactors re-create life on a community scale: the entire historic house and estate are transformed into a 16th Century Manor, with up to 150 inhabitants of all ages, skills and wealth carrying out a huge variety of daily tasks. Many of the re-enactors are home-educators themselves and some of the younger re-enactors are home-educated children.
The reenactment of daily life is as historically accurate as possible – right down to the historical context and year (this year, it will be 1588, when Queen Elizabeth I was under threat from the Spanish Armada)
All of the re-enactors are completely in character and remain so throughout the day. Each re-enactor has their own “backstory” for the character they assume.
It is a fully immersive experience. For that reason, it is far better to attend in costume. Kentwell make a “cheat sheet” of costume instructions available to attendees, once they have booked.
2015 will be the third dedicated Home Educators Day and it will be open from 1pm to 5pm. (It’s sadly been reduced from a full day to a half-day for 2015 – which is a shame because there is much to occupy an entire day)
Full Prices: Adult £19.50; Child (5-15) £13.50; OAP £18.50
Prices if you book and pay on-line: Adult £15.00; Child (5-15) £12.00; Senior £14.00
