This workshop is a hands-on farming experience! The children explore our farm to learn about different types of farming: arable, animal, dairy and poultry. They can also learn how to use maps to help them find places on the farm. Later they will investigate where the different ingredients to make a pancake come from. They can work hard grinding the wheat to make flour, collect eggs from our chickens and milk Daisy the Earth Trust cow. Their final reward is an outdoor cookery session, making pancakes on an open fire! Alternatively, they can process oats, grains, nuts, seeds and fruit to make their own muesli or learn about and help with the annual cycle of wheat, through growing, sowing, harvesting, winnowing and grinding.
Two separate sessions will be run on this day for age groups 4-6yrs and 7-11yrs.
