Organised by Lou

A day-long, mainly hands-on session at the National Museum of Computing in Bletchley.

This will suit children with an interest in computing, maths and the development of computing.  Further details to come later.

This visit is will be divided into two sub-groups:

Upper KS2-KS3 group: 9-13 year olds. (The usual minimum age for the National Museum of Computing is 10yrs.  9yrs is concession)

KS4/GCSE group: 12-16 year olds.  This group is particularly suitable for those studying GCSE computing and/or maths.(although they do not have to be working towards an exam, it’s an indication of the level)

The activities for the day (in rotation) are:

  1. Codes and ciphers maths session, with tour of the PC gallery and games
  2. Coding on Raspberry Pis with Fuze
  3. Coding on BBC Micros

Please book for the AGE that your child is.  The two groups will be doing the same kind of activity, it’s just so that they have a better chance of social interaction – particularly for the teens, where there tends to be structured HE activities for them, than for younger children.

Attending parents are actively encouraged to participate in the tour and hands-on session alongside their children.

Accompanying adults and non-participating siblings will also be fully chargeable due to TNMC’s capacity and charging policy.

Parents are responsible for their own children on this trip.  If you wish to send your 11yr+ child unaccompanied OR if you wish to bring a younger sibling, please check prior to booking.

Overall spaces are limited.

You’ll need to bring a packed lunch.

Price for both children and adults £14.43 (if paying by personal PayPal transfer, or £15.14 if paying via the website)

Please note that although the National Museum of Computing is physically inside Bletchley Park, admission to Bletchley Park itself is not included.

Please pay by personal PayPal transfer to: events[at]educationista [dot] com Or, you may also make a personal PayPal payment via www.paypal.me/eventseducationista (please DON’T tick the “paying for goods or services” box)

(If paying by personal PayPal payment, OPT TO PAY OFFLINE, below, and please put your names and what you are paying for on your personal PayPal payment)

If you have successfully sent your booking, a little green message to that effect will appear at the bottom of the page and you’ll get an email from the website.
You’ll receive another email, when your booking is confirmed.

If this fills completely, prices per person will be slightly less.  If this is the case, attendees will be refunded a pro-rata share, after the event.
There will be no refunds for non-attendance/cancellation.

Bookings

This event is fully booked.

    Hi Lou
Do I need to pay as an observing adult – ie, not requiring a seat as such? Happy to if required but the boys will need someone with them (aspergers in one and undiagnosed – on purpose austism in the other)… let me know.

      Hi Ruth,
Yes, all accompanying adults need to pay. There is an overall capacity and a fixed price for this. So non-paying people (adults or children) will result in everyone else’s costs being higher.
Therefore, everyone who goes in will have to pay the same price.
      Thx
      Lou

This Website

This website is purely a booking website. Any home-educator is welcome to use it for free, as long as the event is not-for-profit for them personally.

Adult spaces/tickets:
Please put “adult” in the age box. (Adult ages are not required)

Children’s ages are asked for to enable the organiser to pass on the age-range to the venue/workshop leader. Also, in the case of there being free teacher/adult spaces, these are normally calculated on the child/ren’s age.

Educationista Foundation

We were successful in registering "Educationista Foundation" as a CIO with the Charity Commission.

We'd like to invite any home-educator who is interested in joining in activities or getting involved in the charity itself, to join the facebook group for it, which is here:
facebook.com/groups/EducationistaFoundation.

However, the charity is separate from this website.
(It just uses this website for bookings for ease and because it time-stamps the bookings, which may be necessary for over-subscribed events)

Payments for Events

Payment for events must be made directly to the organiser.
Their PayPal/payment details will be detailed on the event.
If the organiser requests a bank payment (this will be clear on the event itself), then you may request them by email if they are not already known to you.

You are NOT be able to pay via the website PayPal as some of you may have done previously – this is because this attracts PayPal fees which cannot be passed on (following legislation that comes into effect from January 2018).

Your space(s) are not confirmed until payment has been received.

Cancellations/Non-attendance & Refunds

Most venues and attractions need to booked and paid in advance.
Therefore, unfortunately refunds are not normally possible unless your space(s) can be filled.
If you are unable to attend for whatever reason, please let the organiser know as soon as possible. They may they have a reserve/waiting list.

Welcome to Educationista.com

Thank you for visiting! Please put your feet up and make yourself at home.

This website shares educational places to go, things to do and reviews of educational trips.

Search through the directory's growing list of places to go and resources. - all categorised by subject area and age-range.

Browse through the list of upcoming events.

(Please remember - You must be registered (it's free) on the site and logged in, in order to actually book.)

Inclusion of an event on this website is NOT an endorsement of it. This is a booking website (and particularly in the case of home-education events, this website does NOT seek to replace local or national support groups)

The individual organiser is responsible for their own event.
The organiser's name appears on their events so you can identify whose event it is.

If payment is taken through the website, this will unavoidably incur PayPal fees. Therefore please pay the organiser direct if at all possible.

Are you a Museum, Venue, Place or Education Provider

If you have events, trips, resources etc to share... we'd love to hear from you!
